UPDATED: A car has collided with a lamppost on the Newport exit of Racecourse Roundabout this afternoon (Thursday).
Police and ambulance crews are in attendance at Whippingham as a result of the yellow Mazda MX-5 losing control and veering across the carriageway into a large lamppost.
A number of bollards have also been wiped out on the central grassed reservation.
No one has been seriously injured in the single vehicle crash, but the 2 occupants of the car are set to be conveyed to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Traffic is heavy in the area but beginning to flow.
UPDATE @ 17:06 – The incident has now been cleared and traffic has returned to normal rush hour levels.
A man and a woman have been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital.
