A car has been abandoned at the side of the road after crashing into a tree on the outskirts of Ryde overnight.
The white Volkswagen Golf has left the carriageway and collided head-on with a tree on Bullen Road, between Westridge and Pondwell.
It appears the driver of the vehicle lost control on a tight left hand bend, travelling away from Westridge Cross.
Police are aware of the incident and have placed a sticker on the side window of the crashed VW to notify any concerned passing motorists.
The vehicle – which is taxed, MOTed and insured – is expected to be recovered in due course.

Jumping trees AGAIN .hope they’ve arrested this one
That tree looks guilty as hell to me…..jumped straight out in front of that car!!!!
VW Golf. Yep you know the sort who drives them, just like Audis and Beemers, who is honestly surprised lol
What sort are those then? At least provide some context before posting a pathetic comment. Too many judgemental twats around at the moment. Keep your negative comments to yourself….simple!
Sound like you’re getting a little heated there buddy… maybe try not to get angry… simple!
Sounds like your a very jealous person
So you’re still ok with people making generalised, generic comments about “Ryde will be a wasteland in the future” or what I saw the other day with someone writing “lower class people idolising celebrities by wearing designer clothes” and you never had a go at them.
So it’s ok to marginalise people based on their perceived class or where they live, but not on what they drive??
The judgement is reality. The driver of this vehicle was over the limit or it was stolen
Otherwise they would have reported it and not abandoned it.
apparently the tree was making rude gestures to the driver with its branches and challenging it to a game of chicken. The tree has clearly won and is keeping the car covered as the car belongs to the tree now- it won the car fair and square.
The police have been made aware in case the driver and former owner of the car, tries to steal it back off the tree.
I’m sure Island trees have shares in car repair and scrap businesses.
Yet another brilliant driver on the Isle of Wight…. seems motorists do not need to have any driver training, just do hundred or so mock tests then book up and get your licence.
Yes that really what they do more like there to many over 70 drivers that should not be on the road and the roads are in such a bad state
Since when has over 70 made you a bad driver? I’ve seen plenty of big boys with toys that have absolutely no idea how to handle them.
These trees have absolutely no road sense whatsoever. Trees are becoming an ever growing problem on our roads. It’s time these inconsiderate monsters were given a severe talking to or better still a damn good thrashing.
Probably got dazzled and confused by the lighthouse in the garden on the corner there, enough to confuse any boy/girl racer.
Why do people on the Island not yet understand there is now a tree revolution taking place.
Poor unsuspecting drivers are being taken out one by one. Yet all we hear is bad driving,
mechanical problems, drink, drugs etc being blamed. Before it is to late wake up and smell the roses otherwise we are all doomed.
And everyone is worrying about the COVID virus? I think these trees are more of a worry now!! They’re planning a take over.
Abandoned? It may be that the driver found the only place on the Island where parking is still free. Or it may simply be that the car was being driven by someone on their way to work and it developed a mechanical fault. Yeah right. Chalk up another one in the drink and/or drugs and/or theft column.
cant be right island cars are suppose to land on their roofs after a crash
Was drink taken ?
But it’s ok because they might be a key worker
What the hell is happening on that Island! So many cars etc ending up in a bush and sadly all the accidents happening! Last week the cars had the urge to end up on their roofs and this week its hedges! For dear sake just bloody slow down!
The standard of driving on this island is poor, and that is putting it mildly. I may be stating the obvious here, but if only people took more care on the roads, ‘incidents’ like this wouldn’t happen. Simple. If only people would concentrate on the road ahead, the tree wouldn’t unexpectedly ‘jump out’ in front of them. Drink or drugs possibly, or just too busy on the phone most likely as the phone is just so important in most people’s lives. People may think differently if they stopped and thought that actions such as these may result in the last text or phone conversation you ever have with someone. Just a thought. Surely it can’t be that difficult to keep your eyes on the road and if you’re not familiar with the roads you’re driving on, slow down and use extra caution.
