A car has crashed into a garden wall and a bus stop near Nettlestone this morning (Thursday).
2 fire appliances are in attendance on Pondwell Hill, close to the junction with Bullen Road and Calthorpe Road.
Police and ambulance crews are also on scene with paramedics tending to the male driver of a Dacia Sandero.
The road remains open under direction.
UPDATE @ 08:30 – The driver has been helped from the vehicle and is now in the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
With no one trapped inside the vehicle, fire crews have stood down from the incident.
Island Echo understands the driver had been to McDonalds and spilt a drink inside the vehicle, leading to the collision occurring.
Local residents have expressed their frustration at the number of collisions on the stretch of road with gates and walls regularly damaged.
Police have moved the Dacia from the carriageway.

Glad all is ok this could lead to a very expensive mcdonalds though
Another idiot not paying attention, there will be another one along later…
I wonder if this is why you are Not supposed to drink while driving, whether it’s a cold drink or not !!!
Quite possibly
I’m loving it
They should just revoke their license and send them back to driving school, because they obviously weren’t paying attention.
I hope charges of driving without due care and attention are brought.
Unfortunately, with absolutely no police enforcement of any kind on the island charges are highly unlikely.
You would need hundreds of police to enforce idiots.
They walk and drive among us.
That’s the trouble with these bus stops – they will jump out at you!
The bus company’s think they own the roads.
“companies”
And here I go again on my own
Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known
Like a drifter, I was born to crash alone
Seriously, WTF is going on with driving standards on this Island? It seems that every day there are numerous reports of accidents most of which (if not all) could have been avoided through care and attention. As much as commenters are making joke remarks here, this incident could easily have had a very tragic outcome.
holidaymakers or 2nd homeowners. Don’t know our roads properly.
Rubbish! You can’t keep on blaming overners for EVERYTHING. It’s pathetic. Grow up FFS!!
Sorry KE9 but i have to agree with Chris below on this one. Read the recent articles involving driving incidents. There are some idiotic drivers who are Island residents.
Well I spilt a drink sorry. For god sake
If I had a Sandero I’d drive it into a wall too.
Just Imagine what the traffic will be like with thousands of extra cars streaming out of Penny Feathers, Bullen, Ashey and other ruination money grabbing building schemes in Ryde for the misery of the surrounding roads and villages.
Few will escape such chaos and danger. Mind the developers and planners will as they will be living miles away in peace from what they inflict on others.
Serves them right for eating that crap
Oh well, I see BT will be removing several phone boxes from around the island…Be a bit less street furniture for these incompetent nutters to demolish..
McPlonker. Lucky he didn’t run over a child or dog.
Mind you Dacia cars are crap if i had one i would drive it into a wall.
Lol
