UPDATE: A car and bus have collided at the junction of Fitzroy Street and Leed Street in Sandown this evening (Saturday), resulting in the road becoming blocked.
Fitzroy Street is currently impassable following the collision between a silver Peugeot 207 and a Southern Vectis double decker bus.
The Route 3 bus has suffered damage to the front end, including a smashed windscreen. The small hatchback Peugeot has also suffered substantial damage, although no one has been injured in the incident.
The Route 8 bus is currently stuck as a result of the incident.
Emergency services are not in attendance at this stage.
Motorists should divert locally.
UPDATE @ 22:10 – Police are now in attendance at the scene. Recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.
UPDATE @ 23:15 – Fitzroy Street has now reopened to traffic.
