A car has been left upside in a field after the driver seemingly lost control on a bend in Chillerton overnight.
Residents in the rural Central Wight village awoke this morning (Wednesday) to see the SUV upside down in a field at the junction of New Road and Loverstone Lane.
It appears the driver was going too fast for the bend and applied heavy braking before smashing into a verge and rolling the vehicle into the field, narrowly missing 2 sign posts and the fencing.
It’s thought the incident occurred last night (Tuesday).
Police and the landowner are said to be aware.

They will come forward once they have sobered up.
Totally agree with you and followed by the usual excuse my vehicle has been stolen overnight.
I think you’ll find my friend was driving and he sweaved to miss a badger neither of us where drunk
lol blaming a badger for driving too fast what next ?
you can take that bend at 40mph which is the speed limit,
going too fast is the reason!
I sweaved occifer, were nit drink promise.
I am afraid that you won’t get any sense out of this lot Bradley they’re all trolls with nothing better to do than assume and sneer glad the badger and yourselves are OK
For God’s sake, do you think we are all morons or what ?, own-up or hide away
You are as stupid as he is believing the tosh of swerving from a badger, speed & drink/drugs were probably involved most definitely speed without a doubt.
The skid marks suggest otherwise.
Looking at your spelling I think you still haven’t sobered up.
Can’t have been in too bad a state if he/she managed to squeeze between the post and the sign.
Drink driving then that will teach them or too embarrassing to stay around
Spare a thought for the poor sheep in the field! .. the driver should be barrrr-ed
Maybe he was doing a ewe turn.
I notice one of the skids is on the wrong side of the road.
Some idiot is about to say that speed wasn’t a factor.
Speed and drink is always the factor.
More dragged up scumbags will be along soon….
Swerved to miss a badger!! Looking at those skid marks there was no swerving involved, going to fast for the corner more like

Just look up who owns the vehicle and get them.
Islandwide CCTV will solve the problem
Too many idiots who are drunk etc abandon vehicles and think they
will get away with it.
it’s just anther day with island drivers never mind
20 is plenty on those roads. They need more traffic lights to control the movement of your every day driving. Got to be the worst driving experience for anyone who goes there for a short break.
If you have left the Island why do you keep poking your nose in? Doesn’t concern you any more
Going too fast in the dark probably not using high been lights and didn’t see the 40mph signs or the bend either way a twat driving too fast
The island has been breeding scumbags for the past 25 years there everywhere total filth scumbags.
Think scumbags could afford a car like that it was probably a rich on there way home from a pub
This is what is known as catastrophic understeer. Also the car started over to the right which is not the racing line for that corner I suggest a few more track days might be in order to work on your racing technique.
No, this is what is known as catastrophic Dickheadedness.
Also very true
At least it was parked in the age old tradition, on its roof.
