A bus that once trundled across the Isle of Wight has been gifted to the Isle of Wight Bus Museum.
The Bristol RESL 808, registration HDL 23E, has been kindly donated by Terry Hussey.
808 was 1 of 4 identical buses delivered to Southern Vectis in February 1967 and is said to be a perfect fit within the museum’s collection as it spent most of its working career operating from Ryde depot on local routes, including Elmfield, Binstead, Haylands and Seaview, or to Newport via Havenstreet.
Withdrawn and stored at the end of the 1980 season, 808 was sold for preservation in March 1982.
The bus is not scheduled to operate at the forthcoming Wightrider event and will undergo a thorough inspection and an MoT test prior to being used on any operating days.
