UPDATED: Around 200 homes in Ryde are without water this morning (Tuesday) due to a burst water main.
Supply was lost when a 10-inch pipe burst in Ashey on the outskirts of the town shortly before 03:10.
Temporary traffic lights have been set up on Ashey Road near to Rosemary Lane to allow repair works to take place. It is the same location where 2 mains burst together last year.
In Wootton, another burst is causing water supply issues for local residents. Temporary traffic lights have been set up on Kite Hill whilst engineers work to uncover the pipe.
A spokesperson for Southern Water has said:
“Our repairs are progressing and we will soon have an update.
“Thank you for your understanding while we resolve this issue.”
UPDATE @ 09:09 – Southern Water say engineers are progressing well with the water main replacement at Ashey and hope to have water supply restored by 10:00.
Residents are being warned that they may notice some discolouration or low pressure at first, but that this is completely normal when there’s been a disruption to the supply and is only temporary.
Meanwhile on the other side of Ryde, work is underway at Wootton however an estimated time of completion is not yet available.
UPDATE 15:00 – Water supplies have now been restored to all properties.
