Brothers Billy and Reece Chilcott have been jailed for a combined total of more than 2 years following a break-in at the Boots Pharmacy in Sandown earlier this year.
At around 03:58 on Sunday 25th January, an alarm was triggered at the High Street pharmacy.
Attending officers discovered a window had been smashed and prescription medication had been taken, which has since been recovered, as well as a till.
Following a thorough investigation, 34-year-old Reece James Chilcott of Westridge Road in Southampton and 31-year-old Billy Brian Chilcott, of no fixed abode, were arrested and subsequently charged with burglary, which they admitted at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 27th January.
Billy Chilcott was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison for burglary other than dwelling at the same court on 6th February.
Now, his brother and partner in crime, Reece, has been handed an 18-month prison sentence at Portsmouth Crown Court, for burglary other than dwelling and breaching a community order.
He was previously jailed for 4 years for breaking into the Central store on Hunnyhill, Newport on Boxing Day 2020.
Chief Inspector Andy McDonald has said:
“This sentence sends a strong message that burglary offences, which directly impact the lives of business owners and our residents, will be investigated thoroughly and perpetrators will be pursued through the justice system.
“These break-ins are hugely disruptive to our local community, impacting access to vital medication for vulnerable people on the Isle of Wight.
“I am also proud of the work we have done with local partners, including businesses, local NHS services, Public Health, and the council, to safeguard these sites to reduce the risk of future burglaries and disruption to these vital services.”

Theses Numpties should never be allowed back on the island.

Sex offenders being let go men like this able to do what they want ALL of thos break in happened AFTER he beat his exs daughter up !
Yet he was bailed and let go he should of been on remand then IOW police you should be ashamed of yourselfs.
Be out in less than half so whats the point..
“This sentence sends a strong message”.. No it doesn’t !!!
if “He was previously jailed for 4 years for breaking into the Central store on Hunnyhill, Newport on Boxing Day 2020.”… then even that 4 years didn’t deter him in the slightest,.. so how can an 18 month sentence “send a strong message” ???
more likely he’ll learn that doing it again gets him a lesser sentence..
& probably just a slapped wrist next time….
This sentence sends a strong message What !!!! They go round in circles these two lowlifes.
HOLD ON…. so they give DANIEL KILLSHAW 8 WEEKS FOR BURGLING A CHEMIST 3 TIMES, 8 WEEKS EACH TIME, but youll give these 2 over 2 years, thats definately 2 tier sentencing…. thats absolutely messed up…
One semtemce for 1, another sentence for another WOW..JUST..WOW…. RIDICULOUS…..
