The Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival has been cancelled for 2020, organisers have announced.
The committee says that the decision is ‘sad but inevitable’ and feel it would have been irresponsible to host the event, as social distancing would have been virtually impossible.
It is hoped that the event will return bigger and better than ever, for a festival to remember, in 2021.
Chris Goodman, Festival Organiser, has said:
“Although a way off yet we wish you a time of peace and joy at Christmas time and the hope of a better year next year”.
The event normally sees over 250 theme-decorated Christmas Trees on display in 8 very different locations including Brighstone Church, the Methodist Church, The Wilberforce Hall, The Three Bishops Pub, The Reading Rooms, Mottistone Church, the Isle of Wight Pearl and The Sun Inn at Hulverstone.

Bitterly upset over this. As now will have to just cut a tree at Parkhurt and BUY the dec’s and do them myself.
A JOKE, before the moaners kick off.
Shame good event.
Such a shame we all love coming to see the Xmas trees. Hopefully next year they will be back
they could have still gone ahead- social distancing is a guideline not law – people turning up, would be expected to show a bit of respect for each others personal space – or is this country so weak, that people must be blindly told what to do by others, because they are incompetent.
