Storm Bella is fast approaching our shores and with her she will bring winds of up to 90mph here on the Isle of Wight, resulting in an amber weather warning being issued.
IW Met Service has issued the warning for the period covering 18:00 today (Boxing Day) until 08:00 on Sunday 27th December, with the worst of the weather expected from around 05:00 tomorrow morning.
Forecasters are warning that an area of low pressure will sink across the UK through tonight and into Sunday morning and as it does some very strong winds will develop along its southern edge.
Gusts of 60-70mph are possible almost anywhere across the Island with gusts up to 80mph expected around exposed hills and coasts.
Towards dawn it is likely that there will be an organised line of torrential rain and strong winds developing and ahead of this squall line winds could gust up to 90mph in exposed western and southern parts of the island.
The amber warning has been issued as there is the risk of structural damage along with falling tree debris and downed trees. There are likely to be travel and transport disruptions across the Isle of Wight, including to cross-Solent travel.
