A new map of proposed constituencies in England will be published by the Boundary Commission for England (BCE) next month, giving Islanders a final chance to have their say on proposals for 2 MPs on the Isle of Wight.
From 8th November, members of the public will be able to view and comment on new suggested constituency boundaries. This 3rd and final consultation will last 4 weeks, ending on 5th December, and will be the last opportunity for the public to have a say on the new map of constituencies in England.
The Commission will also publish all comments received during the 2nd consultation stage, including transcripts from the public hearings held around the country.
Following this upcoming final consultation, the BCE will form its final recommendations which will be submitted to Parliament by July 2023.
The “Bright Side” and the “Dark Side” (Ryde) which clearly includes Portsmouth overflow.
Why do we need any on on this Island ? Hampshire runs this Island now.. why pay for another MP…??? Why have two ?? waste of money, making up new jobs with large pay…
Why do we need 2 overpaid MPs on the Isle of Wight? Christ it’s only a small island with a population of about 150,000 people. If 1 mp can’t handle this on the wages,expenses etc., then they shouldn’t be doing the job.
The Conservatives are not daft. It will mean the Tories will have another MP unless by some miracle another party is voted in on the island.

Will make no difference. Whilst we have over 800 unelected lords, no constitution, first past the post election, seat of power embedded in London, unchecked lobbying, unelected head of state, unfair influence from religious groups within government whilst all propped upped by a state TV and mainstream media, we will never have a democracy.
What this country needs is a bloody revolution.
Or at least a Proportional Representation electoral system, functional coalition governments if necessary, and a transformation of the House of Lords and Ladies and CofE Bishops into a properly representative chamber that will focus on fine-tuning documents, acts, bills etc. as they pass through the political process. Well, yeah — that would amount to a “bloody revolution” of sorts!!

Hi David, I respect your opinion, I fail to see how I talk rubbish, I agree people never act on mass, if however, people were largely to act on their right to vote, then there would be fairer representation of people’s opinion, if a large amount of people do not vote a huge amount of opinion is lost, and democracy is weakened.
People just moan without changing anything, political elite is made by a lack of voting, people have a voice and fail to have it heard. Chicken and egg syndrome.

William you are a man after my own heart, I stopped voting for anything decent happening in England (through the process of elections) some 25 years ago, and nothing has happened since to change my mind. I think William we have to realise that there is no hope left, so make the most of what we have, and be happy with that.

What a total nonsense to divide up a geographical entity like Newport. And all for the reason that numbers add up to something similar in this mad election system, which is the real issue here. It badly needs changing for us to have a semblance of democracy.
Nothing will get done if this goes ahead, sausage bob does sod all as it is, except jump on other peoples ideas. Imagine the chaos when two of them start bickering and claiming expenses too let’s not forget.
