Medina Bookshop in Cowes will host an upbeat evening of readings and environmental discussion this Saturday (26th April) at 19:00, marking the launch of a new book created to support the Solent Seagrass Restoration Project.
‘Wild Seas, Wilder Cities’ is a collection of stories, poems, memoirs, articles and illustrations inspired by grassroots environmental initiatives across the Solent, the UK and around the world. The publication takes an optimistic look at how small actions by individuals and communities are making a big impact on sustainability and nature recovery.
Best-selling author Toby Litt has described the book as:
“Full of love, enlightenment, practicality and poetry. Energized and energizing. You’ll come away inspired and connected – both to nature, and those fighting for it.”
The launch event will reflect the eclectic nature of the book, with Island poet Maggie Sawkins compering an evening of readings by various contributing writers and poets.
Guest speakers will include representatives from the Island Seagrass Project and Jamie Marsh, Director On Nature Recovery for the Isle of Wight and Hampshire, who will speak on local restoration efforts and take questions from the audience.
Tickets are £5 and are available from Medina Bookshop in person, via their website, or by calling 01983 300044. Attendees are welcome to bring their own refreshments.
