Members of the Wight Dolphins, joined by members of the public, took part in the first-ever Big Wight Beach Clean on Saturday (25th October), collecting multiple bags of rubbish from the beach at Bembridge.
The community clean-up saw volunteers Kaydene and Kenzie, along with their dog Kenzo, join the Wight Dolphins for an hour of dedicated litter picking.
By the end of the session, several bin bags had been filled with waste, including unusual finds such as an old canoe, a plastic owl, and discarded lobster pots.
The initiative aims to make the Isle of Wight’s coastline cleaner and safer for all to enjoy, with organisers describing the event as a positive first step in a wider environmental effort.
The Wight Dolphins are now planning their next clean, which will include a sea clean to remove rubbish from the water as well as the beaches.
