Bembridge RNLI have assisted in the search for a vessel in distress off Shanklin this evening (Monday).
RNLB Alfred Albert Williams was launched at around 20:00 at the request of Solent Coastguard to investigate a weak Mayday call that had been received, in which the only information that was heard was “Curious Parrot” and Shanklin.
The All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) initially conducted a search off Shanklin, during which the Y boat was launched to talk to some anglers on the shore.
A further shoreline search continued towards St Catherine’s Point past Ventnor.
Having found nothing, Solent Coastguard agreed that the volunteer lifeboat crew could return to Bembridge.
The ALB was recovered by 22:40.
