Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat has launched to a becalmed yacht some 15 miles south of the lifeboat station this morning (Sunday).
Solent Coastguard requested that the volunteer crew launched the lifeboat shortly after 11:00 this morning when a Pan Pan alert was received.
With no wind to sail and a malfunctioning engine, the casualty vessel has found itself becalmed in the English Channel.
A tow is being established and the yacht will be taken to a port of safety.
Bembridge Lifeboat is now on its return leg at a speed of 7 knots.
UPDATE – The casualty vessel has been taken to a marina in Gosport.
Bembridge’s Tamar-class lifeboat has now re-housed at Station.

Couldn’t these craft take a leaf blower with them, then puff themselves back into harbour? Another great idea for the Dragons Den
