Bembridge RNLI were launched by HM Coastguard this afternoon (Saturday) to go to the assistance of a 61ft twin-engined motor boat that had broken down south of the Nab Tower with 2 people onboard.
Having quickly located the vessel after launching at around 13:15, the lifeboat Mechanic was transferred aboard the casualty boat and having checked that she was no longer taking in water, he managed to get one of the engines working.
The large motor boat was subsequently escorted to the entrance of Portsmouth Harbour by the All Weather Lifeboat, however in view of her lack of maneuverability she was put on a tow to Haslar Marina and safely berthed.
The Alfred Albert Williams then returned to Bembridge and was recovered around 16:00.
