The Bay Wailers organised and hosted a celebration of their 10th anniversary and the 150th anniversary of Christ Church Totland on 17th May.
The concert featured special guests West Wight Dementia Friendly Choir, who moved the audience with a joyful and heartfelt performance.
As the Bay Wailers themselves shared:
“Thank you so much to everyone who attended our performance on Saturday. A grand total of £975 was raised for local charities. Thanks again to The Piano Café, Isleofwightbars, Dimbola Tea Room and Coffee House, Orchard Bros, and The Freshwater Coffee House for such generous raffle prizes, and to West Wight Dementia Friendly Choir for bringing such joy to the evening.”
“The total raised has been split between: West Wight Dementia Friendly Choir, Freshwater Independent Lifeboat and Freshwater Skatepark Project.”
Freshwater Parish Council commented:
“We have heard wonderful feedback and would like to publicly acknowledge the community spirit, generosity, and musical talent that made the evening such a success.
“We applaud the Bay Wailers for 10 years of musical community building and thank all those who supported the event.”

Paul Blackley, Project Lead for the Freshwater Skatepark & Pump Track, added:
“We’re so grateful to the Bay Wailers and everyone who contributed. This donation takes us even closer to reaching our target and starting the build. The new skatepark will be a much-needed space for young people and families in our community—encouraging physical activity, social connection, and a sense of belonging.”
Bay Wailers rehearse Tuesdays, 19:00 to 21:00 at Freshwater Parish Hall.
West Wight Dementia Choir meet Wednesdays, 10:30–12:00 at Freshwater Methodist Church (except the 3rd Wednesday of each month).
The Bay Wailers will next perform at All Saints Church, Calbourne, during The Sale on the Green, on Saturday 21st June at 16:00.
