A duo of bands, celebrating anniversaries in 2025, are playing a concert in aid of Corf Scout Campsite at Newport Minster this weekend (Saturday 29th March).
Wight Diamonds, who celebrate their 25th Anniversary in 2025 will be joined by their friends from Kingston and Malden Scout and Guide Band, who are celebrating their 75th Anniversary in 2025. The massed band will number over 60 musicians.
A wide ranging selection of popular music, from shows and films as well as some marching band standards, will be played. The Minster café will be open before and during the interval. There will be a raffle, a Scouting display and an opportunity for young people to try a musical instrument.
All Scouts and Guides under the age of eighteen (18) who attend in uniform, accompanied by a paying adult, get in free.
Tickets are £5 per adult and £3 per youth (age 4 to 17) and free for uniformed Scouts & Guides can be obtained from www.ticketsource.co.uk/isle-of-wight-scouts or ‘on the door’ subject to availability.
Chair of Isle of Wight Scouts, Andy Hollebon, said:
“Corf Scout Campsite has provided adventurous activities for young people on the Island since 1937. We’re grateful to Wight Diamonds Marching Band and Kingston & Malden Scout and Guide Band for putting on this event and to Newport Minster for hosting it. It’ll be a great evening.”
