Aspire Ryde is preparing itself for the Spinnaker Tower abseil fundraising event this May.
The iconic structure is the highest in Portsmouth and offers incredible views of Portsmouth Harbour at a breath-taking 100m above sea level.
As well as many Aspire Volunteers and supporters, one man is traveling miles to support this great cause.
Paul Bradshaw lives in Cyprus and is travelling here just to do this Abseil, here’s Paul’s story:
“I was born and bred on the island and moved to Cyprus 8 years ago. I spent many years commuting to and from Portsmouth and have always wanted to Abseil down the Spinnaker Tower.
I lived in Ryde for approx. 20 years and used to be able see the church that Aspire have turned into a community hub from my lounge window. I feel that Aspire do amazing work and feel it’s a privilege to help raise some much-needed funds to continue their amazing work for the local community.
Logistically it’s a bit of a nightmare, it’s a 4,500-mile round trip.”

An Aspire spokesperson has said:
“Our thanks to Paul for taking up the challenge, we still a few places left if anyone would like to take part, we ask you to raise £200, this covers The Abseil, Insurance travel from the Island and a donation to Aspire.”
