A teenage boy from Sandown has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an incident at Newport Quay yesterday (Saturday).
At around 17:30 last night, an officer on patrol in the Newport Quay area saw a teenage boy appearing to assault a teenage girl.
The officer intervened and a 15-year-old boy from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Posts on social media had suggested the incident was a drowning, however Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have not commented on the exact nature of the incident.
Officers at the scene assessed the girl involved who didn’t require any medical attention.
The arrested teen has been released on conditional bail until 9th June whilst enquiries continue.
