A 61-year-old Isle of Wight man has been arrested after 2 mums and their children were allegedly approached in Freshwater yesterday morning (Tuesday).
Police say the suspicious incident occurred on School Green Road at around 09:00, with a report made to the force at 09:45.
Island Echo understands that the women and young children were approached by a male, who it is claimed became agitated and began grabbing his chest and crotch. It’s alleged he also attempted to throw a punch at one of the women.
A similar incident is said to have occurred at Newport Bus Station later in the day.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says that enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened.
As part of ongoing investigations, a 61-year-old man from Freshwater has been arrested on suspicion of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of, or provoke, unlawful violence, and common assault.
He has been conditionally bailed until 25th May.
It was in September last year that a similar incident was reported to Police, which resulted in the arrest of a male.
