Firefighters from Sandown were mobilised to reports of a fire within an electrical installation in Bembridge early this morning (Monday).
1 pump was mobilised to the East Wight village at 06:50.
Upon arrival, the retained crew discovered an electrical cable arcing in amongst trees.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Network (SSEN) engineers were made aware of the situation and their attendance was requested.
No further action was required by the fire service, with the Sandown pump returning to station by 08:40.

So – doesn’t Bembridge have it’s own retained station any more, then?
Doesn’t the Bembridge fire engine turn out for emergencies in Bembridge anymore? I can see that station closing if they don’t get a grip…
There’s not enough people who want to join the fire service in the village, with recent retirements they’ve not got enough to man a pump at the moment.
Be interesting to see them shout when Hampshire propose the station should close.
