Firefighters have been called out to an arcing electricity pole in Ashey on the outskirts of Ryde this morning (Wednesday).
The incident began at just before 07:55 when members of the public spotted a bright light emanating from the pole in a field off Ashey Road.
1 appliance from Ryde Fire Station has been mobilised to the scene and engineers from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are en-route.
As a result, power has now been lost in the area . SSEN says that supplies are expected to be restored by 11:30.
Meanwhile, firefighters have been tackling a large tree fire at The Causeway in Freshwater.
Crews from Freshwater and Shanklin were mobilised to the incident shortly before 07:20.
Just a loose connection. Squirt WD40 and few turns with insulated spanner will likely do the trick
