Applications to join the Ryde and Sandown beach lifeguards team for the 2025 summer season have now closed.
The service is delivered in Ryde and Sandown during the summer months on behalf of Ryde and Sandown Town Councils, as well as supporting the safety cover of local events.
RBLG provides a variety of employment opportunities for prospective Lifeguards including seasonal roles, which provide regular work (days and times) with part-time or full-time hours over a set period of time, and casual roles.
A spokesperson from Ryde Beach Lifeguards has said:
“We would like to thank everyone who has applied to be a part of our Beach Safety Services in Ryde and Sandown this year.
“We kept applications open longer this year as there was a possibility of the service extending to Ventnor, however following a public consultation Ventnor Town Council have decided to maintain a basic first aid post instead.
“This enables us to close applications, and we will reach out to all applicants over the coming week.
“Our team will then receive comprehensive training over the next few months, to ensure they are fully qualified and ready for the upcoming summer season. Let’s hope we have some better weather this year!
“We are still recruiting Beach Safety Volunteers, so if you are currently enrolled in a Lifesaving Club and wish to volunteer to support our Beach Lifeguards in the summer holidays, we would love to hear from you!
“Local primary schools in Ryde and Sandown have been contacted to take part in our Sea Safety programme. The scheme is free and provides practical training on how children can stay safe in and around open water. If your school is interested, please contact us for availability.
“Thank you again to everyone who applied, and all the local businesses and town councils that continue to support us.”
