Police are trying to establish how a 78-year-old man from Gurnard sustained a serious head injury yesterday (Thursday), leading to his death in hospital.
The pensioner was cutting hedges outside his property on Rew Street at just before 10:00 yesterday morning before he was found lying in the road with a head injury. Officers believe that he may have fallen and that this could be an accident rather than a crime.
Sadly, the 78 year-old man was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment, but later died.
Police believe a couple were in the area and saw what happened. It is believed the pensioner spoke to them briefly. They are described as white, aged in their 60s, and driving a tan coloured hatchback car.
