Police investigating an incident that saw a man in his 40s sustain serious injuries in East Cowes have launched an appeal for witnesses.
Officers attended the scene in woodland off Esplanade, East Cowes, early on Saturday morning (10th July), after receiving an emergency call at just before 03:00. The man is said to have suffered serious head and facial injuries, and was rushed by ambulance crews to St Mary’s Hospital where he still remains.
Detective Constable Adam Gamble, said:
“We are appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to come forward and speak to us. Were you in the area on Friday evening or during the early hours of Saturday morning? Did you see or hear something that could be connected to this incident?”
A 17-year-old boy and 43-year-old man, both from the Isle of Wight, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, and have been released under investigation.
