APPEAL FOR INFORMATION AFTER PUBLIC ORDER INCIDENT IN BEMBRIDGE

pilotboatinnPolice are appealing for information about a public order incident at a pub in Bembridge on Monday evening.

Sometime between 19:20 and 20:00, a female member of staff was put in fear of violence by a man she was trying to eject from the Pilot Boat Inn following abusive language towards other customers.

The 20-year-old woman felt threatened and was pushed by the offender but otherwise uninjured.

A 58-year-old man from Ryde was arrested on suspicion of assault and using threatening or abusive or insulting words or behaviour. He was bailed until 1st April pending further police enquiries.

PC Samantha Barry said:

“This was an isolated incident in this usually peaceful village pub. I am appealing for witnesses to the offender’s demeanour, both before and during this incident, to come forward.”
