473 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed on the Isle of Wight since the start of the pandemic, that number rising by 3 overnight.
As reported by Island Echo yesterday, during the month of September a total of 37 cases were recorded locally. However, the latest data now shows that 40 cases were in fact identified and confirmed last month. During the month of August, just 10 cases were confirmed indicating a 4x growth.
The most recent case is listed as being confirmed on 30th September.
The Government are warning that due to a technical issue, which has now been resolved, there has been a delay in publishing a number of COVID-19 cases in England. This means the total reported over the coming days will include some additional cases from the period between 24th September and 1st October, increasing the number of cases reported.
No small surprise that whilst the Gov were bribing the dim to ‘save money’ but risk your families lives by ‘eating out’, cases were kept quiet, YET as soon as the tourist season ended numbers ‘apparently’ rose dramatically.
An untimely funeral will cost a whole lot more than the ‘savings’ made on some pub grub.
They weren’t bribing the dim to save money, they were helping people keep their businesses and staffs jobs. You obviously have plenty of money not to worry about saving peoples jobs.

Some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to have all the vulnerable and elderly people get their flue jab at a community centre NEXT TO A PRIMARY SCHOOL! Place was heaving with inconsiderate parents puffing on toy fags and kids spraying all their germs over all and sundry.
I expect the cases to go up. No social distancing and quite a few impromptu ‘mothers meetings’ in the community centre car park, in groups for more than 6 from many different house holds.

Surely one of the worst spots for this is in the passenger lounge of the ferry. All People going across, including those going for a CV test, after manifesting symptoms, are no longer permitted to stay in their cars, as they were back in the Spring..
Agreed, it’s beyond ludicrous, knowing what we now do about the way COVID spreads, that passengers are not allowed to remain in their vehicles during Solent crossings. The cynical among us might wonder whether Wightlink were not making enough money on food and drink sales during the crossings…
