West Wight Men In Sheds have opened a separate workshop for its woodworking machinery, thanks to an anonymous donation of £4,000.
The registered charity has been raising funds to expand its facilities over the last 12 months using Just Giving, an online fundraising platform, and thanks to the mega donation has started to turn the old workshop into a separate area for its members to work on projects, away from all the woodworking machines.
David Waldock, a Trustee of the charity said:
“I would like to say a big thank you to the individual for their donation. It has made a big difference to what we were able to buy and do to complete the build”
West Wight Men in Sheds has also been supported with a grant from The WightAID Foundation, as well as assistance from Sydnehams Ltd & YBS Insulation that enabled them to convert the shipping container’s interior to a workshop.
The new workshop has been dedicated to their late workshop guru John Baldwin, who died earlier this year after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer. The ribbon was cut by John’s widow Jenny Baldwin and was followed by a buffet supported by Pinilla Cake & Event Services at the shed.

So another eye saw for a group of men to please themselves using charity money on a public field?!
Another eye sore in public playing field for a group of men using whatever handouts they can get to please themselves
Dave’s a jealous hater
If he wants to join he should just ask.
A bunch of old boys pottering about pleading themselves – how come it’s a registered charity ???
providing social engagement opportunities for (largely elderly) isolated people as well as providing practical community support (such as meal delivery during COVID, restoring public benches etc) – what’s not to like. The Women’s Institute is a registered charity.
Them and their skip sat right next to a car park where if the wind blows, the rubbish that clearly isn’t from their workshop damages peoples car or worse, a child playing in the park! A couple of oldies emptying their car into it the other day. I doubt they paid for the skip did they!
