The Isle of Wight’s adult population should be vaccinated against COVID-19 by September, a Government minister has confirmed.
With the COVID-19 vaccination programme picking up pace and proceeding without hinderance, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has confirmed that all adults in the UK should be offered their first vaccine dose by September – a more specific date than the Government’s previous mention of ‘Autumn’.
There is a flicker of hope that the roll out may be completed earlier, but the current plan puts things on course for September – in time for children to return to school as normal for the new academic year.
Over 3.5million people in the country have now been vaccinated, which is around 6.6% of the adult population. That number is increasing every single day by huge amounts.
By mid-February it is hoped that all over 70s will have been vaccinated, before either the Pfizer vaccine or Oxford vaccine is then opened up to those over 65, over 60 and so on.
It’s currently unknown how many Islanders have received their first vaccine dose as official figures are yet to be released. However, it is thought to now potentially be in excess of 15,000, including a large number of NHS and health care staff.
Current lockdown measures could be lifted, gradually, in March.

If no one was ever tested, then all we’d know is that, as usual some people may be getting flu, some badly – as most years. In many cases a common cold wouldn’t be nice for those who are vulnerable and/or frail, so they need to shield – as usual.
NOTICE how all of the sudden Government has discovered a new widget to keep their Lockdowns going on and off indefinitely, the imaginary “new variant”, a new flavour each week, a new media scare campaign, new arbitrary ‘measures’. This is a psychological attack on the public.
I won`t be having no experimental vaccination.
Oh the delirious mumblings of a complete fool, I will ask them to get your hospital bed ready.
“The shaming of lockdown sceptics as friends of the plague eerily echoes past outbursts of hysteria during times of transmissible illness. Witchcraft panics exploded during times of plague.” – Brendan O’Neill
24 people in Canada died after having the Vaccine, so did a Doctor in his fifties in America and there have been many more deaths!
UNTIL THEY MAKE IT COMPULSORY I WILL GIVE IT A MISS!
All the people who red arrow this, read the news about the poor persons who have died since having the Pfizer Vaccine!
I am no Anti Vaxxer, but I like to know more about what they are injecting people with!
Where’s your source for this? And considering you’re “no anti vaxxer” you’re doing a good job of spouting anti vaccine rhetoric.
As expected real i reply too your correct and true post get the sheep’s thumbs down! Standard on here.pinch n salt eh
Rest of you just obey be brain washed and do as your told by a bunch if incompetent lyers
You are parroting misinformation from a bunch of unqualified morons on the internet, you are also sheep – just your herd is wandering off into the woods whilst laughing at those in the field.
Same here
I am only going to take the Oxford version. As it doesn’t mess with your dna. We wish to have children and we are fearful of having a mutant child with the other vaccines which mess with dna.
Glad you are not having the jab. We can all live & hope.
I think if you want the injection you should but if you are against it then dont, still stick to the rules and wait until 75% are vaccinated………all I’m gunna say is boris johnson hasn’t had the vaccine, he has said only so another person can have it before him..he has a medical team 24/7 that are on call and when he caight it he had breathing trouble yet he still hasn’t taken it makes no sense
Bojo, Mogg and co will not be having the Vaccine!
There’s an article in the Guardian today about the lsland being left so vulnerable when we were in tier 1 .Anyone who saw the news report on Guernsey yesterday should realise why travel to the Island should have been policed.
Personally, I think all islanders should be vaccinated now. Because of the Solent we’re a captive community, so vaccinate us and we can being to open up and get our own internal economy going again.
You get injected with crap if you want jamie – I will take my chances with a virus that has a global, 99.98% survival rate
So true
99.98%? Proof?
do the maths yourself common sense – the figures are all there
No, they’re not. The figures your referring to originated from a Twitter post showing “survival rates” in different countries with 0 citations attached.
iv had the virus so do i really need the vaccine. I think ill wait until the end of sept and see how it goes.
Well I certainly won’t be!
Based on?
Based on the “vaccine” for this “pandemic” being completely untested, and completely unnecessary as this “deadly virus” has a survival rate of 99.98% and I’m not a scared witless sheep like most of the population.
Back up the 99.98% and you’ve got a convert..
Talk sense man.
Get vaccinated – protect yourself AND OTHERS.
The vaccine does not stop you getting it or transmitting it .so how do you think it protects others .?
My mistake – you obviously know more than the scientists.
Like I said. No. Enjoy your untested unsafe unnecessary jab.
