Firefighters entered a smoke-filled flat in Cowes after items were left on top of a kitchen hob.
2 appliances from Cowes and Newport were mobilised to Arctic Road at just before 20:40 tonight (Monday) when the alarm system at a block of flats began to sound.
The first crew on scene found a 1st floor flat heavily smoke logged, with a hose reel jet and main jet quickly made ready.
The decision was taken for 2 firefighters to don breathing apparatus and enter the property, where it was found items had been left on the hob.
The situation was quickly brought under control with positive pressure ventilation utilised to rid lingering smoke.
Tonight’s shout was one of the first for Cowes using their new ‘Papa 6’ appliance.
