Medics from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) have been scrambled to Totland this afternoon (Friday) to assist with an ongoing medical emergency in the village. Having been scrambled from its Thruxton base at around 13:30, the helicopter circled the West Wight village before landing in the St Saviour’s School field off Summers Lane. Island Echo understands that the incident is not involving anyone at the school. On the ground, resources from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are tending to the casualty at an address in the local area. UPDATE @ 14:30 – The casualty has been airlifted from the scene and has been conveyed onward to Southampton General Hospital.
