UPDATED: AIR AMBULANCE IN LATE NIGHT DASH TO EMERGENCY AT RED FUNNEL TERMINAL

The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed at Red Funnel’s East Cowes marshalling yard tonight (Wednesday) in response to a medical emergency at the ferry terminal. It was just gone 23:00 that flying doctors were scrambled from their base at Thruxton to support the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service with an ongoing incident at Dover Road in East Cowes, landing at 23:25. Doctors and paramedics are currently tending to a poorly patient within the terminal building. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has an ambulance crew, a rapid response paramedic and an enhanced care paramedic on scene. The marshalling yard – or car park – has been cleared allowing the yellow and green air ambulance helicopter to touch down. UPDATE THURSDAY @ 00:20 – The air ambulance has returned to its base near Andover without conveying the patient. The incident is now being stood down.
