The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed on a playing field in Binstead in response to a medical emergency at a nearby address this afternoon (Monday).
It was just before 17:00 that emergency services were alerted to a life-threatening emergency at the property on Arnold Road.
The ambulance service immediately deployed an ambulance crew, a critical care paramedic and an operational commander to the incident.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service also mobilised a retained appliance from Ryde, on a medical response.
The situation is so critical that the expertise of the flying medics has been requested, with the air ambulance touching down at Binstead Rec at around 17:20.
The doctors and paramedics have walked the short distance to the scene of the emergency.
UPDATE @ 18:37 – The patient is understood to have been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport, accompanied by the air ambulance medics.
The helicopter has taken off from Binstead, relocating to the helipad at St Mary’s.
