Sailing has been cancelled at the Cowes Week regatta today (Sunday) due to adverse weather conditions in the Solent.
The cancellation was confirmed this morning with high winds and gusts forecast today.
With conditions looking better from tomorrow, it is hoped that races will resume then but, for today, the Cowes Week festivities will be confined to the shore.

All week the weather is meant to be naff, the Boozers will be busy with all the
Dfl’s
Least no illegals arriving, least not by dingy, and looks like the Hose pipe ban might yet be averted for this year now.
Fine weather sailors, shame to have to stop the racing but safety first .
but won’t be using the boozers as over inflated prices like everything else in Cowes this week , same old thing year in year out about time they re thought everything about this week needs total re modelling etc etc etc
What a sorry excuse force 5 gusting to force 7 at times. In days gone by this would be classed as a challenging days sailing but not in todays world where everything’s got to be perfect or it doesn’t happen
Sailings off, the wind is blowing……
About as resilient as the floating bridge , oh by the way what a time to be suspended , and river taxi £5 per person to cross 100 yards mmm another overpriced service
Such a shame, NOT. My heart bleeds, still at least it is wind and rain falling and not bombs, yet!!
