UPDATED: Adverse weather conditions are resulting in travel disruption this afternoon (Friday), with the possibility of some coastal flooding also.
Hovertravel have suspended their cross-Solent service between Ryde and Southsea due to the strong winds.
Meanwhile, Island Line have suspended their service between Ryde Esplanade and Ryde Pier Head for the second day in row as a result of the adverse conditions.
A flood alert remains in place for the Isle of Wight coast with overlapping of the sea walls expected at Ryde and Yarmouth.
Earlier on today the Isle of Wight Council closed the beach access steps at Compton due to continued land movement.
UPDATE @ 18:38 – Island Line trains have now resumed a normal service, serving Ryde Pier Head.
UPDATE @ 19:05 – Red Funnel’s Red Jet service has been suspended due to the strong winds on the Solent.
UPDATE @ 20:32 – Red Jets are once again operating to timetable following the earlier suspension.
UPDATE SATURDAY @ 07:28 – Hovertravel have confirmed that services have resumed again this morning.
