Ability Dogs 4 Young People Isle of Wight has announced its upcoming Gala Weekend and Fun Dog Show, which is set to take place on the weekend of 8th/9th June. This free event – which is to be held at Sandown Airport – promises to be a captivating celebration of community and the life-changing impact of the team of Ability Dogs. The Gala Weekend and Fun Dog Show will be a vibrant unification of local businesses and organisations, all in support of Ability Dogs 4 Young People’s mission to empower young people facing physical and mental disabilities. The event will feature demonstrations of the range of skills the Ability Dogs in training master, as well as the return of the immensely popular Fun Dog Show, providing opportunity for attendees to get involved and share in the fun. With the aim of raising vital funds for the Charity’s incredibly life-changing work, the event will host games, stalls and family-friendly activities while championing a noble cause. The Isle of Wight 2023 Youth Mental Health Census highlights the increasing need for young people to receive support for their mental and physical well-being. With 1 in 5 young people receiving an official diagnosis of a mental health condition, it is hardly surprising that services are finding themselves under increasing pressure. Ability Dogs 4 Young People is making a tangible difference to young people in crisis, providing invaluable, unconditional support, unlocking education and career pathways, as well as enhancing inclusivity and social networking. Carol Court, Ability Dogs 4 Young People CEO says:
“We are dedicated to supporting young people with disabilities, providing them with the tools they need to reclaim their sense of freedom and belief in themselves. The Charity’s impact is nothing short of incredible, thanks to the tireless efforts of our team of Trainers and Volunteers and the unwavering support of the community. “The upcoming Gala Weekend is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and share the invaluable contribution our Ability Dogs make to the mental and physical well-being of young people on the Island. We are so excited to welcome the community to what promises to be a very special event.”
