Wightlink are advising of 90 minute delays this Friday evening due to a mechanical issue.
Customers travelling from both sides of the Solent have been facing delays over the past 2 hours or so, with traffic backing up at the Fishbourne and Portsmouth Gunwharf terminals.
A passenger on the 17:00 from Portsmouth has told Island Echo that they were unable to dock at Fishbourne due to a broken down ferry at the port.
Wightlink apologises for the changes to your travel plans.

It will never happen, Island Roads cannot even cope looking after the Roads on the Island.
Could you imagine them trying to build a Bridge.
They leave the Depot in Newport, go and have Breakfast, time they get out of the vehicle it is time for their
Tea break.
They then Read the Newspaper, get out of the vehicle and look at the job that needs doing.
Then it is time for lunch.
They then Carry Out the 1/2 repair while their work partner watches them, then they go and park overlooking the Sea, then they go back to the Depot.
It’s a tough job for the wages they get paid!
THEN WE WONDER WHY THE ROADS ON THE ISLAND ARE IN THE STATE THEY ARE IN!
SO NO WORRIES OF A BRIDGE EVER BEING BUILT.

And there is a serious fire in the middle of the tunnel like that which occurred in the Channel Tunnel and the tunnel is closed for months.
Wightlink is a shambles. Bring back more ferries on the Lym Yar route. It was packed tonight coming home. How about council we commuters who are being held back by Wightlink stop paying out council tax. Most of the staff want to be left alone to run it without the interference of Portsmouth. Meet the manager meeting, think they need to walk the plank
I wouldn’t be surprised if they start giving oars to the passenger, to save the company their fuel bill, and that money goes to the share holders.

The delays were actually 2 hours +. Shambolic.
Let’s be honest with ourselves, island roads, do you think the St Mary’s fiasco is going to work. Honestly 90% of folk going thro the road works are of the same conclusion as myself.
Not going into the reasons why but I am sure that if folk were told to indicate their intentions of travel when the roundabout was there it may of helped. Even now people are not using their indicators to signal their intentions. Also road markings to give directions .

I get that ferries break down what I don’t get is the six became the 7pm but all the people booked on 6 pm was left behind and had to wait until 8pm that tells me Wightlink has messed up on booking numbers why do they constantly lie that’s what upsets people. Over the last 10 weeks Wightlink have run late 70% of the time but they record no delays they spent 45 million to stop delays need I say more
