6 Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian national have been arrested and detained by Home Office officials following immigration raids in Cowes last night (Thursday).
Enforcement officers burst through the door of Bahar Tandoori on the High Street at around 18:00 yesterday evening. Officers encountered 4 men – 3 Bangladeshi nationals and 1 Indian national – who were found to have no right to work in the UK.
Checks showed that 3 of the individuals, 2 aged 30 and 1 aged 47, had overstayed their visas. A 27-year-old was also found to have entered the UK illegally.
Officers also paid a visit to Saffron Flavours of India on High Street, Cowes where 3 Bangladeshi men, aged 28, 33 and 53, were discovered. They had also overstayed their visas.
All 7 men have been detained pending their removal from the UK.
