The Isle of Wight has bagged 5 gold medals on Day 6 of the Orkney 2025 Island Games after sailor Arthur Farley won the ICLA 7 event.
Arthur’s latest victory means he has won all 9 of the races he has competed in (ignoring the 6th race in which he came 2nd and has been discarded) to achieve a perfect score of 9. He finished 23 points above silver medallist Josh Metcalfe of Ynys Mon.
The bronze medal was taken by the Isle of Wight’s Harry White after the disqualification of Ynys Mon’s Alistair Dickson – who had been in the bronze medal position – in the final race.
The Isle of Wight Sailing Team – which also includes Oliver Smith and Oliver Mayo – took gold in the team competition.
Our sailors finished a whopping 84 points above their closest challengers – silver medallists Ynys Mon. Guernsey bagged bronze.
The Isle of Wight have now advanced from 16th to 7th in the Orkney 2025 Island Games medal table after securing 5 gold medals on Day 6.
We now have 12 podium places (18:30 Thursday): 5 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze.
