35-YEAR-OLD REMANDED AFTER MAN STAMPED ON IN VICIOUS SANDOWN ASSAULT

35-year-old Kevin Williams from Shanklin has been remanded in custody after being charged with the serious assault of a man in Sandown at the weekend. Police were called to the High Street at around 17:00 on Sunday afternoon to reports that a man in his 40s had been punched, kicked and stamped on. The victim was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment of his injuries, but these are not deemed life-threatening. Officers attended the scene and conducted a search before arresting a man in nearby Queens Road. 35-year-old Kevin Lee Williams, of Osborne Road in Shanklin, has since been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He was remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court this morning (Tuesday), where he was further remanded to appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on 6th December.
