A 30-year-old man has been receiving treatment in hospital after being knocked down by a car in Newport.
The incident occurred on Whitepit Lane during the early hours of Friday morning, at 01:47.
Police initially feared that the incident was serious in nature, but it was soon established that the casualty’s injuries were not as serious as first feared.
He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance with minor injuries.
Sergent Radford from Newport Police Station has said:
“Even though I have been a police officer for many years, sometimes when you hear an incident that contains concerning details you do think ‘oh god’ and hope for an early update when an officer arrives.
“Thankfully it was not as bad as initially thought and the person was taken to hospital”.

Ok, so what about the car driver ? Did the driver stop, and answer questions, was driver fined.. ?? Come on reporters, get some answers..
Similar to that young girl that got hit at St Johns railway bridge ? No clue from reporters as to what happened, or any fines? Who was to blame ?
