UPDATED: 3 people are being led to safety this lunchtime (Tuesday) after getting stuck in the mud at Thorness Bay.
A 999 call was received by the Coastguard at just before 11:30 reporting that 3 people were in difficulty on Porchfield Beach, to the west of Thorness.
Cowes Lifeboat is currently on scene and is transporting the 3 casualties – who have managed to free themselves – to rendevzvous with Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team.
The attendance of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has been requested in order to check over the rescued individuals.
UPDATE @ 12:51 – All 3 casualties – 2 men and a woman – are being taken directly to St Mary’s Hospital by the Coastguard Rescue Teams.
Cowes Lifeboat has now stood down from the incident and returned to station.
