20-year-old Lyam Ringer has been charged with dangerous driving following a Police pursuit on the outskirts of Ryde during the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday).
At just before 02:00, a blue Ford Focus failed to stop for Police after officers tried to pull the car over for having a light out.
Officers witnessed the vehicle driving at excessive speed and a pursuit was authorised.
The chase came to a stop just off the main Newport to Ryde road at Binstead, with a passenger exiting the vehicle on Pitts Lane. He was detained by Police but is being treated as a witness.
The driver was located nearby.
Now, Lyam Ringer, 20, of Heath Road in Lake has been charged with dangerous driving. He is due to appear before the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 22nd September.

Unfortunately vermin like this lack the intellect to appreciate the potential results of their appalling behaviour- they simply couldn’t care less. The island has been rapidly catching up with the mainland for years now and not in a good way.
Everywhere there are families like this Ron. The mother and father need a good talking to and told in no uncertain circumstances, this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated. These youngster think they are good drivers and can out-run the Police, obviously they can’t, but it’s the damage they could do trying to get away. Crashing into parked cars or houses. Only someone with a very very low IQ would think that is ‘a bit of fun’. Some harsh punishment needs to be handed out to these immature youngsters before they start killing innocent people. They have not been bought up with any decent morals or to respect anyone or anything, this is the parents failing.
