UPDATED: Firefighters are responding to a road traffic collision between a car and a van on Military Road alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police this morning (Tuesday).
2 appliances from Newport, 1 from Freshwater and 2 fire officers are on scene at Brighstone having been mobilised at around 09:20.
The road is closed in both directions whilst emergency teams attend to those involved.
UPDATE @ 10:08 – Thankfully, the crash is not as severe as first feared by the emergency services.
A red Kia Rio has been damaged in the incident at the junction with New Road, but no one has been seriously injured. A woman has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
The second vehicle involved is understood to be an Island Roads’ Ford Transit van, which has now driven away from the scene with minor front end damage.
Recovery of the Kia has been arranged by Police, who remain on scene.
The road has now reopened in both directions.
