Firefighters have been mobilised to a road traffic collision between a car and a van in Shanklin this evening (Saturday).
The incident, which has invovled a blue Hyundai and a white van, has occurred at the junction of Languard Manor Road and Carter Road – outside the Co-Operative store.
1 fire appliance from Sandown is in attendance at the crash in the interests of scene safety.
No one is thought to have been injured in the collision, which occurred at around 17:00.
Southern Vectis say that their Routes 2 & 3
(Newport bound) are currently unable to stop at the Carter Road Co-op stop.
Buses will stop on Landguard Road opposite the Ryde bound stop.

Wow is this as exciting as it gets on the Island. The car involved must have been driven by an old person no youngster would be seen in a Hyundai.
I’m 24 and have a Hyundai! I love it.
It’s comments like this that encourage young drivers to get wholly interoperate cars and loads of debt. A small nice car like a Hyundai is perfect. They don’t break down and cheap to run. Ideal when you’re on a tight budget.
Hope it wasn’t the same car that turned onto the Briddlesford road, without looking.
Absolute nutter – clearly couldn’t judge the speed of my car, which wasn’t going too fast. Luckily my brakes are good!
Glad no one was seriously injured in Shanklin.
Mobilised Sandown fire service for a accident outside shanklin fire station
Shanklin might of not been on rota
Exactly what I was thinking!
Shanklin fire station has not been operational for many years now.
How about before criticising Shanklin retained firefighters. If there currently are any. Consider would you be willing to give up many hours of your own free time and to drop whatever your doing at the drop of a hat to respond to a call out. I Believe there is a shortage of retained firefighters in all areas of the island.
Dodgems are available to ride at the back,of SANDOWN PIER
Nearly went 24hrs on island without car crash
If I remember correctly it was shanklin fire service that attended the fire at fisherman’s cottage the other day yes shanklin is still operational
Two more brilliant Island drivers…
Well at least it wasn’t a tree
