Red Funnel is advising customers of 2-hour delays on its East Cowes-Southampton service this afternoon (Monday) due to the earlier cancellation of 2 sailings.
The 12:30 from East Cowes and the 14:00 from Southampton were both scrapped due to a technical issue with the propulsion unit on board Red Eagle.
Now, the impact of that middle-of-the-day cancellations has led to 2-hour delays for those travelling to and from the Isle of Wight.
The cross-Solent operator says it is working to reduce delays and apologises for the delay.
UPDATE – Services have now returned to timetable

“Issues with the propulsion system” – i.e. not enough passengers booked on for the propeller to get a good enough grab of the water no doubt.
you are so right their excuse cannot be proved
Mondays and Fridays – it’s a shame that island people who don’t live in East Cowes don’t/won’t understand the amount of chaos that is inflicted here when this happens!
Hope there going to compensate it’s high paying customers
if a compensation was introduced this will stop the ferry companies romoving squedualed times
Hasn’t been 3 days since the last issue with the Red Osprey caused delays of up to 2 hours
About time both ferry companies brought all new stock. These ferries are old and broken and very dirty. The extortionate price I pay to use then the cleanliness is filthy and disgusting. But if is very funny ( not) that they never breakdown when there is a major event on the Island or on peak season days when money is to be made.
