Firefighters utilised 4 breathing apparatus, 2 main jets and a hose reel to bring the situation under control, indicating a sizeable fire.
A 10.5 metre ladder was used to gain access to a balcony.
It has been confirmed that 2 people were assisted from the flat and passed into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service. They have since been conveyed the short distance to St Mary’s Hospital.
