Isle of Wight Festival 2017 Local Community News

19-year-old Dayita Sagger-Hayward has this week launched her new solo act, just days before her Isle of Wight Festival performance this coming weekend.

On Sunday evening the Island-based rising star gave a truly unique 20 minute performance of singing and dancing to an intimate crowd at The Blacksheep Bar in Ryde.

Dayita, who has danced from the tender age of 4, has her own unique style of electronic trip hop/ambient sound, writing the songs as well as choreographing the dances.

At 16 Dayita went to Isle of Wight Music College, Platform One. It’s there that things started to change when during her direction of choreographing dances to music, it became apparent that it was in fact music that she wanted to create. With the support of Platform One she finished all her exams and then started working on her solo career.

Sunday’s performance saw local dancers 13-year-old Jamie Mallon and 17-year-old Zoe Field join Dayita on stage when others could not commit to the booking. Young talented artist Jessica Lowe has worked with Dayita to create her logo.

Dayita will be playing at the Isle of Wight Festival 2017 when she opens the Platform One Stage in the main arena tomorrow (Friday).
