A power cut has hit more than 140 postcodes in and around Arreton, Godshill and Newchurch this evening (Saturday). As families settle down for a night in front of the TV, supply has been lost to some 1,855 properties in the PO36, PO37 and PO38 areas. Communities such as Arreton, Merstone, Godshill, Newchurch, Winford and Alverstone are all without power. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is aware of the fault and anticipates electricity will be restored by 22:00. The lights went off at 18:35 – but the cause is unknown.
